Mozambican women are amazing! When I first saw this hand-crank Singer sewing machine, I thought: how are these women going to manage turning the wheel while guiding the fabric? I didn’t even know these machines existed!
Hand-crank and pedal machines are still important here due to lack of electricity in rural areas. By the end of their three years, those women who participate in the College’s weekly classes are proficient at these machines. They are able to make blouses, skirts, baby blankets and much more depending on donations of fabric and thread.
